L’Afrique des Idées is an independent and pan-African think tank founded in 2011. Its vocation is to conduct analyses and formulate innovative and concrete proposals on political, economic, cultural and social issues related to Africa.

A driving concept : “Afro-responsibility”

L’Afrique des Idées promotes the strong and original concept of “Afro-responsibility”. Neither “Afro-optimism” nor “Afro-pessimism”, “Afro-responsibility” is a paradigm that advocates a reappropriation by Africans, especially the youngest ones, of the narrative on Africa, as well as a socio-economic commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth.

“Afro-responsibility” is underpinned by a strong conviction : in a complex international environment where the geopolitical balance of power is shifting, Africa needs spaces for intellectual exchange with young people from diverse backgrounds who responsibly defend the interests of their continent. These young people must be able to express balanced opinions and bring forth innovative ideas that will bring about positive change for the cradle of humanity.
